#LI-HybridLocation: Hyderabad, IndiaAbout this Role:As Manager, Competitive Intelligence (CI), Technical Research & Development (TRD), you will play a key role in establishing and driving the TRD Competitive Intelligence framework to support innovation, product differentiation, and technology-driven decision making across the Novartis development portfolio. This role will partner with TRD leadership and scientific stakeholders to transform external scientific, competitive, technological, regulatory, and product intelligence into actionable insights that influence product design, drug delivery strategies, device innovation, lifecycle management, and emerging technology adoption.
Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with TRD stakeholders to identify intelligence priorities and deliver actionable insights that support product development, innovation, and portfolio decisions. Continuously enhance knowledge repositories, monitoring frameworks, and intelligence processes to support evolving business needs.Lead competitive and technology intelligence activities across Small Molecules, Biologics, xRNA, Cell & Gene Therapy (CGT), Radioligand Therapy (RLT), Drug Delivery, and Device Technologies.Monitor and assess competitor product design strategies, delivery technologies, dosage forms, medical devices, lifecycle management activities, and emerging scientific innovations.Conduct technology landscaping, benchmarking, and scouting to identify opportunities for differentiation, innovation, and external collaboration.Develop high-impact deliverables including technology assessments, competitor profiles, executive briefings, technology landscapes, conference reports, and strategic recommendations.Serve as a subject matter expert on competitive intelligence methodologies, scientific intelligence gathering, technology scouting, and external benchmarking.Collaborate with PHAD, GDPD, Product Design Excellence, TRD Biologics, CGT, RLT, ARD, Innovation, Scientific Office, and DDIT teams.Influence decision-making through clear communication, compelling narratives, and executive-level storytelling.Leverage scientific, patent, competitive intelligence, and commercial databases to generate evidence-based insights and recommendations.Drive adoption of AI-enabled tools, automation, and innovative intelligence approaches.Manage and mentor analysts while ensuring high-quality deliverables and capability development.Essential RequirementsAdvanced degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemical Engineering or related scientific discipline.8+ years of experience in Competitive Intelligence, Scientific Intelligence, Technical Development, Pharmaceutical R&D, Product Development, CMC, Consulting or related functions.Demonstrated experience supporting strategic decision-making through competitive intelligence, technology assessment, benchmarking or innovation scouting.Strong understanding of pharmaceutical databases including AlphaSense, Citeline, Cortellis, BioMedTracker, PharmaCircle, IQVIA and Evaluate.Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and lead complex projects in a matrix organization.Desirable Requirements:PhD in pharmaceutical technology or formulation technology.Strong understanding of CMC, product development or drug delivery experience
