Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

Let's do this. Let's change the world. We are looking for a highly motivated Specialist IS Business Systems Analyst to support Amgen's Manufacturing Applications Product Team across custom applications focused on finite scheduling, predictive maintenance, and AI-enabled plant operations.

This role is grounded in strong business analyst practices and will be key in eliciting, documenting, refining, and validating business requirements for custom manufacturing applications. The role supports two related workstreams: finite scheduling applications, and AI-centric operational applications such as Equipment Copilot and PlantPulse. The role partners with manufacturing SMEs, product owners, platform leads, developers, and external vendors to translate plant needs into clear requirements, inform backlog prioritization, coordinate testing, and support adoption of capabilities that replace spreadsheet-driven and legacy workflows. The team uses AI-assisted tools in day-to-day analysis, documentation, and delivery workflows, and the ideal candidate can connect plant operations needs with business process design, release readiness, and practical application delivery across the portfolio.

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead requirements elicitation and process discovery sessions with site SMEs and business stakeholders across the manufacturing scheduling and adjacent operations application portfolio.

Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and prioritized backlog items that can be executed by development and vendor teams, while simplifying requirements in ways that reduce redundant, time-consuming steps and identify automation opportunities.

Partner with product owners, project managers, and delivery teams to maintain and prioritize the product backlog, support sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and defect triage.

Assess enhancement requests and solution options with technical leads and vendors, including feasibility, business impact, rollout sequencing, and dependency management.

Support application sustainment, enhancement, and lifecycle improvements across production scheduling applications used at multiple manufacturing sites.

Coordinate requirements and testing for changes involving upstream and downstream manufacturing systems, data flows, and planning integrations.

Document current-state and future-state workflows, business rules, master or reference data needs, and application behavior needed to scale the tools to new plants or use cases.

Create and maintain business requirements, process documentation, test artifacts, training materials, and release documentation with clear traceability to business outcomes.

Develop test plans, UAT scenarios, and regression test cases for each sprint or release, and coordinate execution with SMEs to validate requirements coverage.

Manage defect intake, business impact clarification, and resolution follow-up with development teams and vendors to drive timely closure of open issues.

Support release readiness activities including stakeholder alignment, access enablement, communications, production cutover coordination, and adoption planning.

Identify opportunities to reduce manual scheduling effort, improve data quality, standardize decision-making, and retire legacy spreadsheet-driven or manual planning workflows.

Must-Have Skills

Bachelor's or master's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.

Relevant experience in business systems analysis, product analysis, or functional application delivery for enterprise or manufacturing applications.

Strong experience leading requirements gathering, process mapping, story writing, acceptance criteria definition, and stakeholder alignment.

Hands-on experience working in Agile delivery models with JIRA, Confluence, sprint planning, backlog management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Experience coordinating UAT, regression testing, defect management, and release readiness activities across business and technical teams.

Ability to translate plant operations needs into clear functional requirements for developers, solution architects, and external vendors.

Working knowledge of manufacturing scheduling, planning, or operations workflows, including how production activities, equipment, and process steps are sequenced in a plant environment.

Familiarity with enterprise integrations and data dependencies across manufacturing and business systems.

Strong analytical, facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams while maintaining clear traceability from business requirements through testing and release readiness.

Good-to-Have Skills

Background supporting finite scheduling, production planning, plant execution, predictive maintenance, or related operations processes is preferred; direct experience with manufacturing scheduling software, including SAP PP/DS or similar platforms, is helpful. Experience with comparable manufacturing scheduling or operational platforms is a plus, but not required.

Understanding of how manufacturing processes are sequenced, scheduled, or coordinated in a plant environment; previous MES or related execution-system experience is a plus.

Experience supporting manufacturing application scale-out, site onboarding, or major ERP or upstream platform changes is a plus.

Experience in biotech, pharma, or other regulated manufacturing environments.

Experience producing training materials, job aids, and change-management content for end users and site teams.

Education and Professional Certifications

• Master's / Bachelor's degree and 9-12 years of Information Systems, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field experience

• Business analysis, Agile, SAFe, or product management certifications are a plus

Soft Skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams.

High degree of initiative and self-motivation.

Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.

Team-oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals.

Ability to learn quickly, be organized, and detail-oriented.

Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and cross-functional alignment skills.

Ability to break down complex problems, simplify requirements, reduce unnecessary process steps, and focus teams on the highest-value outcomes.

Ability to reconcile differing stakeholder perspectives, surface tradeoffs, and drive decisions when requirements are incomplete or evolving.

How we calculate "similar"

No black box, no LLM guesswork: a deterministic score built from four normalized attributes. Here's this role's own peer group at different match levels, so you can see the mechanism, not just the result.

Every comparison starts from the same 100-point budget: 25 for working in the same function, 40 for the same therapeutic area, 20 for the same or adjacent seniority, 15 for the same country. A dimension we can't confirm on both sides contributes nothing, never a guess, never a free pass.

Unmatched or unknown dimensions score exactly the same: 0 points, never a partial guess. A role we know almost nothing about beyond its function bottoms out at 25%; it never inflates to 100% just because there's little to compare against. Seniority uses a defined ladder (Associate → Manager → Associate Director → Senior → Principal → Director → Senior Director → Executive/VP) so "Director" and "Senior Director" count as adjacent, but "Director" and "Executive/VP" do not.
