Senior Associate, Cloud FinOps Engineer

ROLE SUMMARY
At the heart of Pfizer's Digital transformation sits Global Cloud Services, enabling modern cloud infrastructure and engineering capabilities that influence business outcomes and provide value to our business, shareholders, and patients every day.
We are looking for a Senior Associate, Cloud FinOps Engineer to join Pfizer's Cloud Services team in Thessaloniki. The role will focus on driving financial accountability, cost optimization, and consumption governance across one of our hyperscaler estates, either Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
The engineer will partner with cloud engineering, platform, and business stakeholders to forecast, monitor, and optimize cloud spend at scale.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Own day-to-day FinOps operations for the assigned cloud platform (Azure or GCP), cost monitoring, anomaly detection, chargeback / showback, and reporting.
Build and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and unit-economics views for cloud consumption.
Identify and drive cost-optimization initiatives, rightsizing, reservation / savings plan / CUD coverage, idle resource cleanup, architecture-level recommendations.
Partner with cloud engineering and product teams to embed FinOps practices into the SDLC, tagging strategy, and platform standards.
Support cloud budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis cycles in collaboration with Finance and the Cloud Business Office.
Contribute to FinOps tooling and automation (native cost tools, third-party platforms, custom scripts).
Help mature the FinOps capability across the Cloud Services organization, aligned with the FinOps Foundation framework.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of hands‑on cloud engineering, cloud cost management, or FinOps.
Hands-on experience with Cloud Billing (Cost Management, Reservations, Azure Advisor) or GCP (Billing, Recommender, CUDs / Committed Use Discounts).
Strong analytical skills, comfortable with large datasets, SQL, and BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Looker, or similar).
Understanding of cloud architecture fundamentals (compute, storage, networking, containers, data services).
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical consumption data into business-friendly insights.
Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hyperscaler certification (preferred Azure or GCP - associate level or above).
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and tagging governance.
Scripting experience (Python / PowerShell / Bash).
