ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
The SAP Basis Architect supports Amgen’s global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) landscape, consisting of SAP and non-SAP systems hosted on AWS. Working with a team of high-performing Basis experts and cloud specialists, the role focuses on ensuring the resilience, compliance, and security of our regulated and mission-critical ERP platform.
This position plays a key role in Amgen’s ERP modernization strategy, supporting the transition toward a cloud-first, automation-driven SAP ecosystem leveraging RISE with SAP and hyperscaler-native services. The role contributes to platform operations, lifecycle management, and modernization activities supporting the S/4HANA implementation and post-go-live operations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Assist in executing the SAP platform roadmap, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance across SAP and non-SAP components
Support day-to-day operation and maintenance of SAP systems on AWS in alignment with enterprise architecture standards
Participate in migration and upgrade projects, including Cloud ERP (RISE) adoption and S/4HANA transition activities
Collaborate with SAP and hyperscaler partners to operationalize RISE with SAP environments, ensuring adherence to Amgen’s security, compliance, and cost-optimization objectives
Contribute to establishing or refining platform standards, operational playbooks, and automation processes
Perform operational tasks to enhance platform stability, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis
Implement lifecycle management activities such as support packages, kernel upgrades, and system refreshes using tools like SAP Solution Manager, CALM, etc.
Develop and maintain automation scripts for recurring maintenance activities to increase efficiency and consistency
Contribute to developing monitoring and observability capabilities leveraging CloudWatch, or SAP Focused Run to improve incident prevention and resolution
Collaborate with compliance, security, and audit teams to ensure adherence to GxP, SOX, and cybersecurity frameworks
Assist in operationalizing cybersecurity strategies for vulnerability detection, prioritization, and remediation
Communicate clearly with peers, customers, and senior stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment across teams
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree and 5 to 8 years of Computer Science, IT or SAP related field experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 8 years of Computer Science, IT or SAP related field experience OR
Diploma and 5 to 8 years of Computer Science, IT or SAP related field experience
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
Hands-on experience managing SAP landscapes in cloud, specifically with systems such as SAP ECC, S/4HANA, ATTP, GTS, GRC, BW, ATC, GIS, Onapsis, Content Server, and various third-party add-ons.
Exposure to Cloud ERP (RISE) including concepts around SAP BTP, hyperscaler integration, and managed services models.
Understanding in SAP HANA database administration, printer management, job scheduling, etc.
Good-to-Have Skills:
Knowledge of AWS and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) services, assisting in their implementation to enhance the reliability of the SAP platform.
Working experience in DevOps methodologies within SAP.
Familiarity with AI/ML, GenAI to implement advanced technologies in optimizing SAP solutions and driving innovation.
Professional Certifications (please mention if the certification is preferred or mandatory for the role):
SAP Certified Technology Associate (preferred)
Agile Certified Practitioner (preferred)
