Hybrid Wheat Seeds Production Scientist in Field (D/F/M) - Toury/Boissay (28-France)
As a Hybrid Wheat Seed Production Scientist, you will play a key role in the innovation and implementation of wheat seed production fields and workflows, with a strong focus on agronomy, plant physiology, and crop management. This position is critical to ensuring the successful production of high-quality hybrid seeds through efficient seed production processes in field operations, while also making significant contributions to protected environments and Doubled Haploid (DH) processes.
We are looking for the following profile:
PhD or Master's degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or a related field, preferably with a specialization in wheat production;
Fluent English and at least an intermediate level of French required;
Strong knowledge of wheat agronomy, physiology, and crop management practices (mandatory);
Proven experience in wheat seed production, logistics, and quality assurance;
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable conclusions;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders;
Proficiency in agricultural software and data management tools;
Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail;
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and initiative;
Ability to calibrate and operate field equipment for planting and harvesting operations is a plus.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement unique and innovative technology solutions to enhance research design and operational success through the adoption of new tools and methodologies;
Ensure visibility and resolution of pipeline and seed production challenges in the field by proposing innovative, data-driven solutions to successfully advance the next generations;
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate innovative technologies and methodologies into wheat seed production processes;
Implement and oversee field-based wheat seed production workflows, ensuring adherence to best agronomic and crop management practices;
Lead the creation and execution of crop cycles in collaboration with planning and protected culture teams;
Apply in-depth knowledge of wheat physiology to optimize seed production strategies and improve overall crop performance;
Manage field activities related to wheat seed production, including field selection, planting, mapping in systems, crop monitoring and harvesting to ensure optimal seed quality;
Monitor and analyze production data to assess the effectiveness of agronomic practices and make data-driven recommendations;
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality assurance initiatives throughout the seed production workflow;
Oversee wheat seed processing workflows, ensuring efficiency and quality in seed cleaning, treatment and packaging operations;
Provide training and support to field technicians and staff on best practices in wheat seed production;
Engage with regional and global stakeholders to align production efforts with organizational objectives and market needs;
Conduct performance reviews on a 90-day cycle to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
