GET TO KNOW OUR AREA:
The Senior Software Engineer (MES) is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and operating software solutions within the global Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) landscape, with a strong focus on Siemens Opcenter (Execution and Opcenter PI).
The role ensures delivery of robust, scalable, and compliant digital manufacturing solutions, supporting shopfloor processes and system integration. In addition, the position contributes to the adoption of data-driven and AI-enabled capabilities within MES environments to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
YOUR MISSION WILL BE TO:
Software Development & Delivery
Plan and lead development of MES features and related user stories
Design, implement, test, and document software components of medium to high complexity
Ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code
Contribute across the full Software Development Lifecycle (Agile, DevOps)
MES Systems Design (Opcenter Focus)
Design and enhance MES solutions based on Siemens Opcenter (Execution / Opcenter PI)
Configure and extend Opcenter PI for data acquisition, system integration, and process monitoring
Apply modern architecture principles (microservices, API-first, event-driven systems)
Review and optimize solution designs for scalability and maintainability
Integration & Interface Development
Implement integrations between Opcenter, SAP (ERP), LIMS, OT systems, and data platforms
Design and build APIs and interface solutions (REST, messaging, middleware)
Support integration testing and ensure reliable system interoperability
Operations & Service Reliability
Operate and support productive MES services (DevOps responsibility)
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents and performance issues
Continuously improve system robustness, stability, and availability
Ensure consistent and reliable shopfloor data flows
Modern Engineering Practices
Apply CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and automated testing
Support cloud-based and containerized deployments where applicable
Contribute to engineering standards and best practices
Security & Compliance
Ensure solutions comply with GxP, data integrity, and security standards
Implement secure and auditable system designs
Support validation and compliance processes
Data & AI Enablement (Light Focus)
Enable data availability and integration for advanced analytics and AI use cases
Support integration of data-driven capabilities into MES workflows
Collaborate with data teams to ensure systems are ready for future AI applications
User & Business Focus
Collaborate with Product Owners and manufacturing stakeholders to refine requirements
Translate business needs into MES-based technical solutions
Support user-centric design for digital shopfloor operations
Coaching & Knowledge Sharing
Mentor junior engineers and support capability development
Share knowledge on MES systems, Opcenter PI, and integration patterns
Contribute to team-wide understanding of system design and best practices
