The Medical Manager plays a key role in supporting the Hong Kong business by providing high‑quality medical and scientific leadership for products within the assigned therapeutic areas. As a core member of the brand team, the role contributes to the development and execution of product strategy, support product launch, lifecycle management and proactively delivers medical and scientific support internally and externally to enable the achievement of both short‑ and long‑term business objectives.

The position requires strong medical and scientific expertise, coupled with excellent communication skills, to build effective partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), academia, and internal stakeholders. The Medical Manager is also responsible for upholding the company’s high standards of scientific integrity, compliance, and ethical conduct in all interactions with the medical community and healthcare stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

Medical Planning and Execution

Lead the development and execution of an innovative, comprehensive medical strategy and tactical plan for the assigned therapeutic area, aligned with overall business objectives.

Drive and manage core medical affairs activities, ensuring high scientific standards and compliance with company and regulatory requirements, including pharmacovigilance where applicable.

Provide medical leadership to support clinical development, product launch, lifecycle management, and cross-functional business initiatives.

Identify, drive, and integrate emerging digital technologies into medical strategy planning to enhance operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making

Deliver high-quality, balanced, and up-to-date scientific communication to internal and external stakeholders.

Respond to medical information requests in a timely, compliant, and scientifically sound manner.

Supports local evidence generation activities with KOLs when needed.

Marketing Support

Provide medical/scientific and strategic input as a key strategic medical partner of the assigned brand team, contributing forward-looking perspectives to shape brand direction.

Shape and influence medical content within marketing plans, ensuring scientific accuracy and alignment with overaching medical strategy.

Contribute medical input into cross-functional projects, particularly taking the lead on product related medical-marketing directions.

Review promotional materials to ensure compliance with global and local standard operating procedures.

Assess competitive landscape and emerging data to identify key risks and opportunities with regards to current and future market situations.

Drive strategic discussions with brand team on product positioning and key strategies in line with business objectives , incorporating novel insights and approaches

Sales Support and Training

Provide strategic medical support to key sales activities and initiatives where appropriate.

Partner with commercial teams to optimize customer engagement strategies while maintaining medical integrity.

Deliver impactful medical training for assigned products to the sales force and brand team to support sales opportunities and/or to avert business threat.

Identify with brand team and training department the training gaps and develop capability-building initiatives for the field force.

Contribute to training programs for newly hired sales reps.

Opinion Leaders (KOLs) & Network

Lead KOL engagement and generate actionable insights from external stakeholder interactions.

Leverage digital tools and omnichannel engagement strategies to strengthen KOL engagement, enhance scientific communication, and deliver a seamless stakeholder experience.

Provide field medical expertise and engage with key stakeholders with fair and balanced scientific information for the therapeutic area.

Support the development and maintenance of trusting relationships with healthcare professionals and institutions, creating constructive partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

In collaboration with Marketing team to establish speaker pools for strategic products.

Attend relevant external medical conferences, international and local.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

About you

Education:

Medical degree, Master of Science diploma major in Pharmacy, pharmacology, nursing or other health care related fields. ​

Experience & Knowledge

Minimum 5 years of Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a proven track record of independent performance and accountability

Demonstrated hands-on experience in new product launch (pre-launch and/or post-launch) and diabetes therapeutic area is an advantage

Strong experience in KOL engagement, medical education strategy development, and high-quality scientific communication

Knowledge of local Hong Kong healthcare system, clinical practice guidelines, and regulatory environment

Strong analytical skills with proven ability to interpret complex datasets and translate insights into medical strategy

Strong digital fluency with a proactive mindset toward technology adoption

Solid knowledge of pharmacovigilance requirements and promotional/non-promotional material review processes

Experience with clinical trial management and real-world evidence generation is an advantage

Good understanding of market access and health technology assessment processes in Hong Kong
