ABOUT THE ROLE

Role Description:

The   role   is responsible for   leading   and   mentoring   team members within   the   Clinical Design and Analysis   technology services   group   that build and transform   technology   capabilities   that   positively   impact   business outcomes.   This individual   will   be responsible for   developing and leading   a highly talented   team that is built for delivering high-end and innovative technologies   in support of biostatistical   study design and analys i s .

The ideal candidate will have a proven   track record   of leadership in technology-driven environments for   clinical design and analysis   and a passion for fostering innovation and excellence in the biotechnology industry. Additionally, collaboration with cross-functional and global teams   is required to   ensure seamless integration and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in   end-to-end software   development lifecycle in a   Scaled Agile Framework   coupled with leadership and transformation experience. This role demands the ability to drive and deliver against key organizational strategic initiatives, foster a collaborative environment, and deliver high-quality results in a matrixed organizational structure.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Lead and manage large, diverse teams within a matrixed organization.

Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Attract and recruit top talent as part of an extensive Technology organization to be   hired within India.

Develop talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, champion diversity within the   team   and act as a role model of servant leadership.

Responsible for managing, growing, and developing the Amgen Technology team in India, ensuring global ways of working are imbedded in the local organization

Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, including those in the US and other international locations.

Understand the decision-making process, workflows ,   and business and information needs of business   partners and stakeholders

Develop and implement strategic plans for   workforce   and technology .

Contribute   and   d efine business   outcomes +   requirements, technology   solutions,   and   services

Oversee the   software development lifecycle

Improve activities being measured by crafting, monitoring ,   and   optimizing   relevant feedback loops   through   'test & learn' activities

Ensure communication of key performance metrics and   analysis of   unmet needs

Work with   Product Owners,   Service   Owners   and /or   delivery teams to ensure   that   delivery   matches   commitments, acting as an escalation point and   facilitating   communication when service commitments are not met

Participate in   stakeholder   and   other   leadership   meetings , working with other parts of the organization, and functional groups to ensure successful delivery

Maintain   strategic relationship s   and   strong communication   with the leadership team about IS services and service roadmaps   to ensure   that all the stakeholders feel informed and engaged

F ollow global standards and practices.

Ensure ongoing alignment with strategy, compliance ,   and regulatory requirements for   technology   investments and services

Facilitate best practice sharing, ensuring ongoing alignment with   the Technology & Digital   strategy

Oversee operating budgets and   product team   budgets, ensuring regular review of actuals and latest estimates, managing according to agreed governance

Ensure alignment of   Technology   service plans across   organization

Provide education to new partners with regards to IT service offerings

Remain a ccountable for ensuring   overall organizational compliance to quality/compliance requirements such as GXP and Privacy

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

Master’s / Bachelor’s degree with 13-17 years of experience   in Life Sciences Information Technology Management or related field

Functional Skills:

Must-Have Skills

Experience leading and managing software engineering teams in a matrix organization.

Strong people management, mentoring, and team-building skills.

Hands-on experience in Full Stack Development using AWS and cloud-native technologies such as Containers, Docker, Serverless, and Microservices.

Strong programming skills in Python or Java, along with React.

Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and modern software development best practices.

Strong understanding of Agile and SAFe methodologies.

Experience using Jira Align for Agile planning and portfolio management.

Ability to define and monitor engineering KPIs to improve team productivity.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Good understanding of enterprise IT architecture and cloud technologies.

Good-to-Have Skills

Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.

Good knowledge of Databricks and modern data engineering platforms.

Good knowledge of, or experience with, R programming.

Knowledge of clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, or biostatistics.

Experience establishing business partnerships and IT governance practices.

SAFe certification or other Agile certifications are preferred.

Professional Certifications :

Scaled Agile Framework ( SAFe ) for Teams   (preferred)

Shift Information:

This position requires you to work a later shift and may be   assigned   a second or third shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, as   required   based on business requirements.
