Engineer, AI Developer Platforms
What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role , We are seeking an Engineer, AI Developer Platforms, to help Amgen explore how emerging AI coding tools can improve everyday software delivery in a safe, practical way. You will work with engineers in representative codebases to use tools such as OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, and other AI- enabled coding tools for prototyping, testing and documentation. You will contribute to evaluations, capture findings , and help create reusable guidance. This role is for an engineer with strong fundamentals and curiosity about AI-assisted development; it is not a model-training or traditional ML-pipeline role.
Use AI coding tools in representative codebases to understand code, implement small changes , debug issues, create tests and improve documentation.
Contribute to structured evaluations of AI coding tools across common engineering workflows; document observations, results and limitations.
Build small prototypes, scripts or reference examples that demonstrate practical AI-assisted development workflows.
Validate AI-assisted output using tests, code review and established engineering practices; raise quality, security, data- handling or reliability concerns with the team.
Work with engineers, product partners and platform teams to gather feedback and improve developer workflows.
Help maintain reusable prompts, repository guidance, workflow templates and onboarding materials, and share practical learnings with the team.
Support and deliver practical training and enablement sessions for development teams on approved AI-enabled development practices, including effective prompting, code validation, testing, secure use and human review.

Basic Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science , Information Technology, Engineering or a related field
OR
Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field
Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, software development, cybersecurity, developer tools or generative AI are a plus.
Hands-on experience writing code in at least one modern programming language, such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript.
Foundation in debugging, source control, automated testing and code review.
Experience with, or strong interest in, AI coding assistants and a willingness to learn how to verify and improve generated output.
Ability to learn unfamiliar codebases, follow established engineering standards and document work clearly.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with OpenAI Codex, Claude Code, or comparable AI-assisted development tools.
Exposure to cloud, developer tooling, internal platform or automation projects.
Familiarity with secure development, regulated environments or responsible AI practices.
. Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare or another regulated industry.
