ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
The role supports the implementation and operation of the organization's information security strategy to help protect data, systems, and networks from potential threats. This role assists with implementing and maintaining network security technologies and controls to help ensure that systems, applications, and networks are protected against evolving cyber risks. Working closely with IT, infrastructure, application, and security teams, the Associate Information Security Engineer helps integrate security into technology solutions and operational processes. The role participates in day-to-day network security operations, supports risk management activities, and helps ensure compliance with applicable security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has strong communication and analytical skills, a solid understanding of cybersecurity and networking fundamentals, and a desire to learn and grow within a collaborative enterprise security team.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Deploy, configure, and maintain security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, DMARC, DNS, and VPN
Assist in reviewing and implementing security configurations in accordance with enterprise standards
Support the implementation of enterprise network security solutions and related technical documentation
Participate in evaluating security technologies and contribute recommendations under guidance
Develop technical expertise in network security technologies while collaborating with senior engineers and cross-functional teams
Network Security Engineer
Create, modify, and remove security policies and objects within the network security toolset (Fortinet UTM, WAF, DMARC, and Netskope ZTNA) in a manner to protect Amgen’s computerized network, while providing access to enable business systems and processes
Troubleshoot technical issues that are related to Network Security offerings
Administer Enterprise Restricted Browser (Island.io) by working with Partner Enablement team to identify and grant required access to business enabling services across Amgen’s services
Develop scripts (e.g., Python, Fortinet Security Fabric) and build automation solutions, including AI-assisted workflows, to improve network security operations and operational efficiency
Build and present knowledge sharing presentations and documentation to educate staff on network security processes
Assist with evaluating, onboarding, and implementing security tools to help protect Amgen's enterprise network environment
Assist in providing remediation guidance for identified security issues
Draft network security policies, standards and guidance documentation
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Any degree with 2 - 6 years of experience in network or network security or related field
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
Working knowledge of enterprise network operations, firewall operations, intrusion detection & prevention, web proxy, and IPSec/SSL-VPN/ZTNA
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot enterprise network security solutions
Experience creating technical documentation using Lucidchart, Visio, or similar diagramming tools
Familiarity with enterprise change management processes using ServiceNow, Remedy, or similar platforms
Good-to-Have Skills:
Experience using and administering Fortinet product solutions including FortiGate, FortiWeb, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiADC, and FortiAuthenticator
Experience with Netskope security product offering including Next Generation Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Private Access, Cloud Firewall, and SkopeAI
Experience with endpoint protection, cloud security, and incident response
Experience with DMARC email reputation security using Valimail
Experience using InfoBlox IPAM
Experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP clouds
Professional Certifications :
NSE 4 (preferred)
Netskope Security Cloud Operation and Administration (preferred)
NSE 5 FortiManager (preferred)
NSE 5 FortiAnalyzer (preferred)
CCNA (preferred)
CompTIA Security+ (preferred)
Soft Skills:
Strong English verbal and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
High degree of initiative and self-motivation
Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully
