At Boehringer Ingelheim IT Marketing & Sales and Data Driven Customer Insights organization, we leverage data, AI and advanced analytics to deliver innovative technology solutions that improve the lives of patients and animals. We are seeking a senior, strategic, and influential Advanced Analytics & AI Technical Product Lead to drive Japan’s AI and data-driven transformation agenda, co-creating, reliable, user-centric technology solutions that create measurable business value.

In this role, you will overarch advanced analytics, machine learning and AI solutions across Commercial and Medical in Japan, collaborating closely with the Product Owner, internal IT engineering teams, and external delivery partners. You will work with skilled IT professionals to turn complex business needs into enterprise-grade solutions while maintaining stakeholder alignment, a strong product vision, and delivery excellence.

This position is based in Japan, with hybrid work aligned to local policies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Partner with business leaders to understand Japan-specific priorities and opportunities addressable through data, advanced analytics and AI. Translate complex business needs into product roadmaps, technical requirements, data models, and AI/ML solution designs.

Lead end-to-end delivery of AI and advanced analytics project and solutions working with local, global teams and external partners. Oversee solution architecture, data pipelines, model deployment, MLOps/DevOps, and lifecycle management.

Collaborate with the Product Owner on product vision, demand intake, prioritization, and release planning.

Manage Japan’s AI/data portfolio, including demand, capacity, vendors, and reporting. Engage stakeholders across Commercial, Medical and communicate complex technical concepts in clear business language.

Ensure enterprise governance, regulatory compliance, and adherence to BI architecture standards.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.

8–12+ years of experience in IT, data, analytics, or AI/ML roles, preferably in pharma and international, multicultural environments.

Proven technical product/project leadership experience and system thinking, managing internal engineering teams and vendors to deliver solutions.

Strong knowledge of AI/ML, analytics, data platforms, cloud architectures. Understanding of data governance, MLOps/DevOps, system design, enterprise architecture.

Strong business acumen and domain knowledge to effectively identify not only the value of data & analytics in the business context, but also the impact of technology and algorithms.

Long term experience in engaging and influencing senior stakeholders in Japan with strong communication and storytelling skills with a proven ability to understand technical jargon and translate it accurately in business language.

Strong networker who gives direction and drives for decisions, brings people together while always keeping the customer in mind. Demonstrated Agile mindset and experience working in DevOps products teams.

Fluency in Japanese and English.
