Associate Tech (Packaging Operator) (2nd shift 3:00 PM – 11:20 PM)

As an Associate Tech on the 2nd shift, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment. Working within multidisciplinary autonomous teams, you'll drive operational efficiencies, adopt new technologies, and ensure adherence to industry regulations. You'll embrace Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) principles, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform necessary tasks to plan and package high-quality products on time and in the right quantities in OTC and Nutritional factories at the Myerstown site in accordance with site policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and practices.

Work with multidisciplinary autonomous and dynamic teams to drive operational efficiencies, best practices, adopt new technologies, and ensure continuous production process improvement.

Embrace Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) principles and practices and follow the VACC approach in day-to-day operations.

Personal Development / Training / Autonomous Team Culture

Support the development of a diverse, inclusive talent pool where members share and support each other to build their expertise in an autonomous team environment.

Take personal accountability in upskilling training/coaching needs and collaborate in the development of training programs to enhance the skills of the operations cluster teams.

Own personal training records, cross-train and coach other operators as needed, and motivate team members to continuously improve processes.

Develop high-performance competencies such as technical skills, digital capabilities, communication, and teamwork to build a collaborative, autonomous culture.

Foster a culture of accountability, trust, and empowerment, where each team member takes ownership of safety, quality, and performance outcomes.

Champion continuous improvement and knowledge transfer, identifying skill gaps, proposing solutions, and supporting development initiatives.

Production Operations

Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety procedures, workplace standards, company guidelines, and ergonomic practices.

Maintain, clean, and organize the work area using 5S practices and participate in safety improvement projects.

Adopt technological advancements and embrace production agility with a digitally enabled mindset to quickly react to changing customer and consumer needs.

Assist with technical troubleshooting and predictive/preventive maintenance tasks as needed.

Drive continuous improvement by taking actions to safely reduce equipment setup and changeover times.

Use digital tools to support packaging lines operational efficiency (OEE) improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with production employees and support functions to establish priorities and deliver products meeting deadlines.

Perform daily set-up and routine operations of the packaging lines and accurately document production process steps.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure adherence to SOPs, regulatory requirements, GMP standards, and industry best practices across all packaging processes.

Ensure product quality by performing in-process checks and complying with cGMP.

Accurately document production process steps and communicate quality and non-compliance issues to supervision in a timely manner.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with other packaging cluster team members, production maintenance, and support functions.

Collaborate with Coaches and Operational Excellence team members in all continuous improvement initiatives.

Other Duties

Complete other duties as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) environment

Demonstrated ability to work safely in a production environment with frequent production schedule changes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree with Technical/Industrial Manufacturing

At least 6 months experience using motorized & non-motorized material handling equipment

Strong understanding of the regulatory arena involving GMP, OSHA, EPA, and Bayer standards

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $22.03-$33.05. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
