The Medical Head of Adult Vaccines assures the delivery and execution of the medical strategy, stakeholder engagement plan, and scientific activities. She/he shares medical expertise with internal stakeholders, such as Marketing, EbM/HEOR, Public Affairs, Communication, Market Access, Clinical Development, Pharmacovigilance, and Regulatory, in compliance with law, ethical/scientific principles, and the Group products strategy.

The Medical Head of Adult Vaccines will promote, develop, and maintain strong scientific and medical relationships towards Key Experts. Her/his activity will increase the scientific credibility and ethical image of the Company to further support established products and future launches.

She/he is a leader, helping her/his team and peers to grow and develop further. She/he takes ownership of people & strategy, fostering a culture of collaboration, scientific excellence, and continuous development across the organization.

Main responsibilities:

Lead and Develop the Adult Vaccines Medical Team

Lead and develop the Adult Medical Team (3 Medical Managers plus 1 Trainee) according to the Take the Lead behaviors

Foster growth and development through clear performance expectations and regular coaching/feedback

Encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement

Facilitate a positive and inclusive team culture that values diversity, excellence, and collaboration

Rolemodel leaderhip beyond the Adult Vaccines Medical Team

Build and Maintain Strategic Relationships

Establish and maintain contacts and relationships with partners, key opinion leaders, and institutions

Integrate these stakeholders into medical projects according to the Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP)

Position Sanofi as a partner in trust for vaccinations and future vaccine innovations

Openly exchange with external stakeholders to build on innovative concepts

Define and Execute Medical Strategy

Lead the Medical and scientific (non-promotional) strategy for the German Adult Vaccines portfolio (Influenza, Covid-19, Travel Vaccines & Future Launches) in close partnership with other functional franchise heads and in alignment with the overall franchise strategy

Provide strategic leadership to clinical development, medical roadmap, stakeholder engagement plan, and scientific activities

Ensure Scientific Excellence and Evidence Generation

Ensure high-quality delivery of scientific evidence to internal and external stakeholders

Participate in the co-creation of the global Medical evidence generation plan

Ensure Medical needs are accounted for and addressed

Closely collaborate with evidence generation advisors and cross-functional partners to generate a large and complex evidence portfolio to support products in pre-/peri-launch phases

Provide Cross-Functional Support

Provide necessary support to other functions, including Commercial and Sales, Public Affairs, Market Access and Communication

Ensure Product Safety and Compliance

Ensure the safe use of vaccines by ensuring compliance with marketing authorization and proper product use, especially in communication and medical information activities

Ensure implementation of corrective actions if necessary

Review and/or approve promotional and non-promotional materials in accordance with internal procedures to ensure respect of ethics and regulations in delivered messages

Maintain Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal procedures in the context of interactions with healthcare professionals, societies, and external providers

Ensure Occupational Safety

As a manager, ensure that legal and internal occupational safety guidelines for the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases are implemented in your area of responsibility

Regularly communicate occupational safety topics

Implement occupational safety training based on risk assessment

About you

Minimum qualifications

Doctorate level education: MD or equivalent Medical degree, PhD or PharmD

5+ years experience in Medical Affairs, ideally with relevant Vaccines experience

3+ years' experience in managing teams

Ability to travel up to 30% of the time

Additional qualification

Medical & Scientific Expertise

Recognized expert in Vaccines & Vaccination or related discipline, acknowledged by peer Medical leaders across Business Units

Proven vaccines experience from academia, research, and/or pharmaceutical industry with deep customer and stakeholder knowledge

Comprehensive understanding of the German healthcare system, including regulatory landscape, reimbursement mechanisms, and stakeholder dynamics

Strategic & Business Leadership

Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to create compelling, patient-centric Medical strategies that deliver value to patients, healthcare professionals, and key external stakeholders

Proven track record of translating scientific evidence into actionable business strategies aligned with commercial objectives

Ability to embrace innovation and analyze emerging trends, including social, policy, and access-related developments, and integrate them into Medical Plans

Team Leadership & People Development

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams

Experience fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Strong coaching and mentoring skills aligned with Sanofi's Take the Lead behaviors

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Building

Exceptional ability to engage with and influence key external stakeholders, building long-term, trust-based partnerships with medical authorities, hospitals, physicians/specialists, opinion leaders, and pharmacists

The salary range for this position is :€101,040.00 - €134,720 Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs.
