IT Laboratory Data & Digital Solutions Specialist

Join the IT OPS Quality – LIMS & Data Team at the Sant Cugat, Spain site and contribute to shaping the next generation of digital capabilities in our Quality Control laboratories. As part of Boehringer-Ingelheim’s One LIMS strategy, our landscape is evolving, progressively reducing fragmentation and shifting focus from system-centric work toward data-driven insights and advanced digital use cases.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the existing LIMS ecosystem during the transition phase, driving data-centric initiatives that unlock value from laboratory data and contributing to the development of scalable, future-ready digital solutions.

In essence: you will help us transform laboratory data into actionable insights and elevate Quality Control operations to the next level.

Tasks and responsibilities

You will provide consulting and implementation support across Laboratory Informatics and Data solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs and strategic direction

You will support and/or lead technical projects, combining elements of LIMS, data analytics, and digital innovation

You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate laboratory processes and challenges into data-driven solutions

You will contribute to the design and implementation of data use cases, such as:

Data exploration for investigations and root cause analysis

Process monitoring and optimization

Predictive use cases (e.g., trend analysis, forecasting, anomaly detection)

You will ensure proper documentation, compliance, and data integrity in GxP-relevant environments

You will support the integration and evolution of the existing LIMS landscape during the transition toward One LIMS

You will engage and coordinate external partners and vendors where needed

You will act as a bridge between IT, Data, and Business teams, fostering cross-functional collaboration

Requirements 

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field

At least 2 – 3  years of experience in:

Laboratory Informatics (e.g., LIMS such as LabWare) or

IT Business Analysis / Technical Project Management in regulated environments

Solid understanding of data concepts and analytics, demonstrated through:

Practical experience in data-driven projects (e.g., analysis, modeling, data exploration), or

Relevant academic background

Experience working in GxP-regulated environments (pharma, biotech, or similar)

Proven experience in software implementation or digital transformation projects

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical and data solutions

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in an international environment

Fluent in English (written and spoken), Spanish as a plus

Availability to travel occasionally (mainly within Europe, Experience working in an international and intercultural environment is a plus
