Intern - Drug Substance Digital Process Chemistry (all genders)

You will join the Drug Substance Small Molecules (DSSM) team. Our team offers a broad range of expertise across Process Chemistry, Process Industrialization, Process Technologies & Protein Engineering, Launch and Lifecycle Management. We collaborate closely with our partners in Research and Development, CMC and API manufacturing. Our team is responsible for early and late-stage technical development of our synthetics chemical API pipeline, manufacture of drug substance for clinical studies and transfer of the processes to manufacturing.

In Process Chemistry, we develop phase-appropriate chemical manufacturing processes for clinical API candidates. While meeting supply demands, our focus is to identify optimal processes with regard to robustness, quality, cost, safety and sustainability. To achieve this goal, we leverage state-of-the-art synthesis know-how in combination with automation and data science.

You are a currently enrolled student (all genders) in chemistry and have an interest in process development and digital chemistry. Furthermore, you are interested in using and sharing your knowledge as part of your internship in a modern working environment.

YOUR TASKS AND EDJUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Gain insights into industrial research, development and production of pharmaceuticals

Contribute to ongoing process development (sub-)projects by designing, executing and analyzing reactions and processes in close collaboration with experienced laboratory teams

Explore various areas of chemistry, including route scouting, scale-up, process development and digital chemistry

Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of experimental procedures, results and protocols

Present findings and progress updates to internal stakeholders

 

WHO YOU ARE

You hold a Bachelor of Science in organic chemistry, digital chemistry or a related discipline

You are currently enrolled in a master's program or have completed a master's degree and are about to start your doctoral studies in chemistry or a comparable field

You have a passion for combining excellence in organic chemistry with data science and shaping new ways of working

You have laboratory experience in organic synthesis and expertise in digital chemistry

You are a team-oriented individual with a goal-oriented work spirit

You possess a high degree of reliability and integrity

You have a strong willingness to learn and enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team

You have good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken

 

WHAT WE OFFER

The internship can start at any time during the year and has a standard duration of six months, with the option to extend for up to an additional six months to complete a master's thesis.
