This is a site based role at our global headquarters in Foster City, CA.

Job Description

Pathologists in the research Pathobiology Department work in cross functional partnerships to meet drug development needs for discovery research, clinical biomarkers, reverse translation, and post marketing support.   The primary focus of this position is to work with oncology and inflammation drug development programs to provide expertise on tissue-based endpoints, therapeutic target validation, preclinical models in the context of relevant human disease, and the applicability of emerging technologies to specific program needs.

Education

MD or DVM with pathology residency training and specialty board certification

PhD or research fellowship is highly desirable

Previous industry experience is beneficial but not required

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will have a strong pathology background, appropriate scientific training, strong formal and informal communication skills (oral and written), collaborative temperament, and willingness to learn and adapt in a rapidly evolving technical and regulatory environment. Familiarity with or interest in clinical biomarkers, reverse translational research, large molecule drug development, and/or digital pathology ML/AI is desirable.  Good interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate open-ended problems are job requirements.

The salary range for this position is: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
