As a key partner to assigned Business Units and cross-functional stakeholders, the BAI Senior Manager leads the generation of actionable business insights, forecasting, and analytics to support business strategy and maximize performance across inline and pipeline products.
This role is expected to operate beyond analytical execution by applying strong business judgment, critical thinking, and analytical rigor to ensure high-quality, insight-driven outputs that support business decision-making. The BAI Senior Manager serves as a trusted partner to Business Unit stakeholders by challenging assumptions, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing an objective and independent perspective grounded in data and market understanding.
The BAI Senior Manager is also responsible for strengthening BAI organizational capabilities by elevating quality standards, improving ways of working, ensuring strong cross-functional collaboration, and creating a high-performing and accountable team environment.
The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership, balancing business partnership, people leadership, operational execution, and quality oversight to ensure the delivery of robust, executive-ready, and business-relevant insights across the organization.
The responsibilities of the BAI senior manager are the following:
Strategic Business Partnership
Partner closely with assigned Business Units and cross-functional stakeholders to support business strategy, brand performance optimization, and data-driven decision-making
Provide objective, evidence-based recommendations by translating complex analyses into clear business implications, actionable insights, and decision options grounded in risks, trade-offs, and market dynamics
Proactively identify emerging business questions, insight gaps, opportunities, and risks to support evolving business priorities
Forecasting Leadership
Lead forecasting activities across assigned brands, including short- and long-term product forecasts for inline and pipeline products
Drive forecasting rigor by critically evaluating assumptions, methodologies, risks, and business inputs, while proactively identifying inconsistencies and challenging business assumptions to ensure robust and unbiased forecasts
Present forecasting recommendations and key business implications to Business Unit stakeholders and senior commercial leaders
Ensure alignment of forecasting assumptions and outputs across relevant stakeholders and functions
Continuously improve forecasting processes, templates, governance, and ways of working to enhance quality, consistency, and efficiency
Insights & Analytics Excellence
Oversee commercial insights and analytics activities, including market research, secondary analytics, competitive intelligence, and performance tracking, to support business decision-making
Ensure analytical outputs and recommendations are strategically relevant, logically structured, and supported by sound analytical judgment and data interpretation
Apply critical thinking and strong business judgment to validate analyses, challenge assumptions, identify risks or inconsistencies, and ensure high-quality, executive-ready deliverables
Translate complex analyses into clear business narratives and actionable recommendations tailored to stakeholder needs while coaching team members on effective storytelling and communication
Support deep dive and ad hoc analyses to address critical business questions and identify actionable opportunities
Leverage multiple data sources including IQVIA, MDV, JMDC, and other real-world data assets to generate meaningful business insights
Portfolio prioritization and cross-functional alignment
Prioritize analytics, forecasting, and insights activities across assigned brands and business needs to maximize impact and effective resource allocation
Align stakeholders around common business priorities by facilitating data-driven discussions and integrated planning
Collaborate effectively across functions and teams to ensure consistency and alignment of business insights and recommendations
Navigate complex stakeholder environments and manage competing priorities across brands, functions, and timelines
Balance short-term business needs with longer-term business considerations in prioritization and planning discussions
Team leadership and capability building
Lead, coach, and develop team members to build a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable team environment while fostering a culture of analytical rigor, critical thinking, and continuous improvement
Strengthen BAI team capabilities by elevating analytical frameworks, forecasting practices, executive storytelling, stakeholder management, and business partnership skills across the team
Operate as a hands-on leader by providing direct analytical and forecasting support when needed, ensuring continuity of business support during periods of resource constraints or team member absence
Effectively manage workload prioritization and resource allocation across the team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs aligned with business priorities
Maintain sufficient subject matter expertise and operational understanding to step into key projects or deliverables when required
Continuously improve team operating cadence, templates, processes, and ways of working to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality
Qualifications
Experience
Experience in sales forecasting, commercial analytics, business insights, or related functions within the pharmaceutical industry in Japan
Experience supporting commercial decision-making through analytics, forecasting, and market insights
Experience leading complex analytical projects and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
Prior people management or team leadership experience
Knowledge, and skills
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
Ability to critically assess analyses, challenge assumptions, identify risks, and provide objective recommendations grounded in data and business context
Strong business judgment with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, concise, and actionable business narratives
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Strong project management, prioritization, and resource allocation capabilities
Experience working with pharmaceutical industry datasets and market information sources such as IQVIA, MDV, JMDC, and related data assets
Proficiency in analytical and visualization tools such as Tableau, SQL, Python, or related platforms
Business-level English communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company in the Japanese marketplace
Strong business acumen with the ability to connect analytical findings to broader commercial implications

Experience coaching and developing team members within analytics or business insight functions
Experience improving processes, governance, templates, or operational ways of working to enhance team effectiveness and output quality
Academic background
Bachelor / master degree in a natural science-related field or MBA
Fluency in English, both oral and written communications
