We are looking for a Bio Process Equipment Subject Matter Expert who is innovative, collaborative, and solution-oriented to join our Global Engineering team, based at our UCB campus located in Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium.

About the role

As a Bio Process Equipment Subject Matter Expert, you will play a key role in shaping the future of UCB’s biopharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities. You will provide technical leadership across the entire product lifecycle, from R&D and CMC development to commercial manufacturing. You will influence equipment strategies, support major CAPEX programs, drive innovation, and ensure that bio-process equipment solutions are scalable, compliant, and fit for future business needs.

Who you will work with

You will work closely with Engineering Project Managers, Manufacturing and Operations teams, CMC Development, R&D, Bio Process Development, Quality Assurance, Validation, and Digital Technology teams. You will also collaborate with equipment suppliers and engineering partners worldwide to support strategic projects, technology adoption, and operational excellence across UCB’s manufacturing network.

What you will do

You will provide technical leadership for bio-process equipment across development and manufacturing activities.

You will support global CAPEX projects from feasibility studies through commissioning and start-up.

You will define equipment requirements and ensure robust, scalable, and compliant engineering solutions.

You will drive qualification, validation, and risk assessment activities using quality-by-design principles.

You will manage technical relationships with suppliers and support equipment selection decisions.

You will promote innovation, standardization, and continuous improvement across sites and projects.

Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills:

Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.

Significant experience with biopharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and process technologies.

Proven experience delivering engineering and CAPEX projects in regulated environments.

Strong knowledge of GMP, FDA, EMA, qualification, validation, and risk-based approaches.

Ability to influence stakeholders and translate complex technical challenges into pragmatic solutions.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and change leadership skills in multidisciplinary environments.
